We are well under way for the New Year now, Christmas tree has long gone come down, packed up and put away. Back in the full swing of things, no detoxing for me this January just reverting back to a healthy normal diet. Maybe..

Here are some  New YEAR New EATS.. which have been filling my stomach since the start of the year. photo 1 (92) photo 2 (82)

Smoked Salmon, with cream cheese, dill and rocket on puff pastry. A super delish, quick lunchtime recipe.  photo 5 (64)

Smoked Salmon with cous cous, celery, feta cheese and rocket, another great healthy lunch time recipe.photo 3 (80)

Head down to the Nordic Bakery in Soho for some fresh cinnamon buns, the way they should be done! Best warm..photo 5 (65)

A New Year dessert, the Croquembouche! Is a French dessert consisting of choux pastry balls piled into a cone and bound with threads of caramel. Here I used Jamie Oliver’s recipe, halved the recipe amount for a smaller group of people, filled it with a vanilla double cream whipped up mixture and piped into my homemade choux buns.  Couldn’t resist making the extra eclair or two.. photo 3 (78) photo 2 (81)

What with the weather you can’t beat a bowl of Ramen on Tonkotsu. I always frequent these type of restaurants when the weather is cold and needing something filling to warm you up. Here I made it with a simple chicken broth, using fresh rice noodles, mushrooms, coriander and keeping it lean with turkey. Adding in a soft boiled egg or two for that creamy indulgence, winner! photo 1 (93)

A visit to Jackson & Rye in Soho (Wardour Street) during the Christmas break for brunch was tempting and fulfilling. With their New York style eaterie offering grits, warmed with maple syrup & berries to pancakes with rich yet light banana cream was satisfyingly pleasant. Although I wanted slightly bigger portions (because I’m greedy like that) and to reminisce the NY American style portions it delivered on taste, I would go back to try that buttermilk fried chicken and more.

Finally visited Polpo for the FIRST time, what I tried was calling me to come back for a revisit, simplicity at its best. With arancini balls, fritto misto (deep fried seafood) based in Soho I would not hesitate to go back for more..photo 4 (68)

I am addicted to this Turkish Bread found in West Croydon or Surrey Street (Greek Shop) they make it fresh to order and its only 70p for a large slab of it, its beautifully soft, with a sesame crust and can be so versatile.photo (7) photo 2 (79)

Cant forget my Mauritian Goat Curry & Soya Eggs to welcome in the year, these are traditional dishes from home and something we love cooking at home. Check out my upcoming supperclub

Well that’s all for now folks, until next time! Have a great weekend!
